Yes, you can use it for all kinds of operations where cooling / compression therapy is considered beneficial. It is ideal for arthroscopic day-surgery, ACL;s, Meniscus and TKA;s.

As soon as the operation is finished and the wound is closed.

Allow the IceBand® to work for 45-60 minutes for maximum effect. We recommend using IceBand for repeated intervals of approx. 45-60 minutes each time. After the 45-60 minutes, take off the IceBand® for at least one hour. This enables the operated area to “rest”. Repeat the process several times.

Due to the isolating non-woven fabric, the skin temperature will never go below + 10 C, which might be a critical level for some (very few) patients.
Before start using your IceBand, please carefully read the Users Manual, which you will find in your personal IceBand pack.

In a normal freezer (minus 10 – minus 20 C)

There are two cooling elements in the wrap, and two replacements to be stored in your freezer. This way, you can alternate to obtain efficient cooling.

 

If you have a good freezer, three hours will be enough when the packs are separated.

Water is safe and ice is the most efficient cooling medium. Water is also environmentally friendly.

IceBand is designed to be user friendly for both clinic staff and the patient. It is safe and easy to apply.

When the Users Manual is followed correctly, there are no risks.

In the first two hours after the operation, compression is important in order to reduce the swelling. Compression is created by tightening the Velcro bands. Cooling is essential during the first 72 hours after the operation, in order to reduce pain and the inflammatory response. Cooling is important during the full rehabilitation period.

Yes, cooling and compression will help to minimise the symptoms of the injury. The first two hours should be treated with maximum compression & cooling, with milder compression & cooling for the following days.

  • Simpler handling in the clinic is achieved with IceBand®. There is no need for cleaning, handling etc after use. (it is disposable)

Ice Band® will reduce a lot of the pain, but additional painkillers may be necessary depending on the complexity of the operation and the patient’s tolerance to pain.

 

IceBand® should be used both directly after the operation and by the patient for the duration of the rehabilitation period. After the rehabilitation period, the patient should dispose of the product. There is no need for the clinic to recover the IceBand® for costly cleaning and handling.
